At the annual nerd fest known as San Diego Comic-Con there are things fanboys/girls have come to expect: kick-ass cosplay, comic-books and amazing panels from the likes of Marvel, DC, Sony, etc. But hardcore Marvel fans flocking to SDCC next month are going to be downing their sorrows in some Butter Beer or Romulan Ale tonight.
MARVEL IS SKIPPING COMIC-CON!
Now its true that those of us in the biz speculated that Marvel Studios might be skipping SDCC after they held their own scaled down fan-event last October. The event announced the movie release schedule for the next few years for Marvel, which means there really isn’t new information for them to share with fans this summer.
But the bad news doesn’t stop there; both Sony and Paramount also are skipping the main geek gathering. The main excuse is that the there isn’t any fan material to promote and the film cycles just didn’t add up.
There is a silver lining…fans can still expect to see Star Wars and Hunger Games hit up Hall H plus plenty of TV show panels to keep everyone busy.
