We all know I live, eat, breathe, sleep all things Disney, Harry Potter and Geeky things.
Lately Disney especially has been stepping up their style game in terms of cute, fashionable pieces with fun twists. Yet there is a problem…about 80% of what is being produced is NOT size inclusive.
I am a plus-size woman, I am not ashamed of that. I also love doing things like DisneyBounding or wearing fun, “Magically Inspired” looks on the daily. However, there are a lot of looks I am excluded from due to my size. Take the Disney spirit jerseys for example, they only go up to an XL. And while I’ve heard they are oversized.
I shouldn’t have to squeeze into a XL and try to make it work.
Most of the time, I can find really cute, stylish official Disney fashion pieces on Torrid or Hot Topic. Over the summer we started seeing special collections being released for Mickey’s 90th Birthday celebration. To date brands like Forever 21, Levi’s, Rag & Bone, and even ShopDisney.com have all put out AMAZING collections celebrating all things Mickey. However they are excluding anymore bigger than XL from joining in on the fashion fun.
I was hopeful that maybe as we got closer to November, Torrid would put out a Mickey’s 90th collection of their own. Yet here we are, on November 2nd and all that has dropped as been the Holiday collection.
Disney has always been amazing at including everyone in their parks and in their celebrations (yay diversity). Yet its seems like us plus-size gals are on the outside looking in when it comes to Disney Style.
Going into 2019, I hope to see Disney extended their sizing and collections to EVERYONE of all sizes can get in on the Disney fashion fun.
