Everywhere around the world, Nerd’s minds are exploding with the official news that Peter Parker aka Spider-Man is coming home to the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe)…kinda.
It was just announced that Marvel and Sony have reached a deal that would allow Spider-Man to make appearances in upcoming films like Captain America: Civil War as well as The Avengers: Infinity War 1 & 2.
In return for this kind gesture, Marvel’s President Kevin Feige will co-produce any upcoming Spider-Man films for Sony along with the now former head of VP Amy Pascal. Sony will have all final creative say in the stand-alone Spidey films BUT when Spidey is in a Marvel controlled film, I doubt that would be the case.
This really is the best outcome Marvel could’ve hoped for short of Sony selling the rights back, which we all know wasn’t going to happen. Now all we need is a deal with 20th Century Fox to share the rights to The X-Men, but don’t hold your breath.
